Exploration in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader offers players countless opportunities to uncover ancient alien tech, hidden loot, and challenging environmental riddles. One of the most intriguing side encounters involves the energy beam puzzle located within the Unidentified Ruins in Latotian's Passage. Solving this puzzle rewards explorers with rare gear, but aligning the beams properly requires precise steps and careful observation.

Finding the Unidentified Ruins

To begin this exploration quest, travel to the Latotian's Passage system, which becomes accessible as your fleet navigates the Koronus Expanse. Scan the Dead World within the system to discover the Unidentified Ruins landing site. Land your party to explore the strange alien structures left behind on the surface.

Activating the Energy Beam Mechanics

Upon reaching the central puzzle platform, locate the main central pedestal. Passing a Warp Lore skill check allows your party to activate the mechanism, projecting a bright beam of light into the sky. Walk near the surrounding rubble to clear it, revealing a star-shaped pattern etched onto the stone floor that serves as your blueprint.

Solving the Beam Redirection Sequence

To align the energy beam correctly, interact with the central pedestal twice after its initial activation to direct the beam to the first relay. Follow the light beam to each subsequent alien device and activate it twice before moving on to the next point. Repeating this process around the circle recreates the star pattern and completes the circuit.

Once all devices are correctly linked, a hidden decorative face on the wall will unseal. Inside the opening, a chest appears containing the Ancient Force Sword, a potent weapon for hybrid melee psykers. If you make a mistake during alignment, simply reactivate the central pedestal to reset the beams and try again.
